Cement Plant, Arizona

Project Type: Cement Plant
Location: Arizona
Capacities: 800 TPH

When a cement manufacturer decided to expand their plant, they enlisted the help of a large engineering firm to oversee the project. Rapat was then selected as the source for the material handling equipment. The project required a great deal of coordination between Rapat and the contract engineers to integrate a number of new belt conveyors into the existing plant.

Rapat supplied large trussed and channel-frame belt conveyors to handle the 4-inch minus limestone, mill scale, and bauxite. The abrasive nature of the product required heavy-duty chromium carbide wear liners to properly protect the inlet and discharge transition areas from excessive wear. The conveyor frames and support bents were finished with a two-part macropoxy paint system, and hot-dipped galvanized walkways and handrails were provided to ensure protection from the harsh desert conditions. The belt conveyors included a number of other options: belt scales, mine-duty pulleys, primary and secondary belt cleaners, and gravity take-ups.
