Iron Ore Pellet Plant, minnesota

Project Type: Iron Ore Pellet Plant
Location: Minnesota
Capacities: 200-1,000 TPH

A large iron-ore mining company was installing new equipment to begin production of a superflux pellet. The project involved a series of conveyors for transferring limestone and iron ore concentrate. Rapat worked with the company to supply trussed and channel-frame belt conveyors, including support structures, transfer towers and a fixed v-plow. Special design considerations were made to help the equipment withstand the harsh environment of Minnesota’s iron range. Rugged conveyor components and wear liners were also used throughout the design to account for the abrasive materials. The new construction tied into existing facilities, requiring close coordination with the engineering firm and contractor. An additional challenge was the tight construction timeframe, which took place in only nine months, including winter months..
