Wood Chips for Paper Pulp
Weyerhaeuser was expanding two paper mills in the Southeast and required belt conveyors as well as the support structures including transfer towers, catwalk, trusses and all support bents. The process included receiving and transferring the raw material from truck receiving into storage and reclaim from storage into the pulp mill.
Rapat’s engineering department along with the Weyerhaeuser project managers developed a project layout that efficiently moved the product in the space available. All conveyors needed hot dipped galvanized construction and Rapat was responsible for all conveyors & supports “anchor bolts up.” The conveyor package included covered troughing roller conveyors, trussed span conveyors, the transfer chutes between all conveyors, the support towers & catwalk as well as the structural engineering analysis and a final structural PE stamp for location of installation.
