Lead, Zinc Concentrate @ 50-70 TPH
The Doe Run Company’s Southeast Missouri Mining and Milling Division is responsible for locating and extracting lead and zinc ore. The minerals are mined below the surface and are transported to the mill above ground to be processed. One of the delivery methods is using trucks. This loadout method involved the use of large hoppers that are placed on a turntable and are dumped into the trucks with an overhead crane. Doe Run teamed up with Rapat to design conveyors to ground pile the minerals separately, and they would use a front end loader to speed up the truck loading process.
Rapat designed two trussed conveyors to free span over the existing truck lane and penetrate the plant wall to create storage piles. The application required a cantilevered head section because the existing structure could not be used for support. The Rapat engineering team incorporated a center drive that was located in one of the mid sections to remove the motor & drive weight from the head end. Due to the nature of the installation, the conveyors had walkways along both sides and a head platform to provide service access. Rapat worked closely with Doe Run to deliver the conveyors during a planned shutdown and provided recommendations on temporary supports to complete the erection smoothly.
