Description of project:

PCS Nitrogen asked Rapat to supply conveyors to move their unique urea product into and away from the storage silos and transfer from storage to the urea melters and urea weigh-belt conveyor. The product being conveyed was a high grade urea and required gentle handling to prevent product degradation. Space restrictions required steep inclines and the application was very corrosive in nature and required anti corrosive materials and components to prevent premature conveyor failure.

Rapat’s scope of supply:

Rapat designed, engineered and manufactured corrugated sidewall conveyors for the steep incline application that used all 304 stainless steel casing and were designed and built without any soft metals to handle the corrosive environment created by the urea. All conveyor components including the bearings, pulleys, hardware and motor & drive housings were stainless steel. The belting used to handle the urea was a chemical resistant white nitrile basebelt with neoprene cleats and sidewalls. Rapat also designed and built the trussing & support structure to support the corrugated sidewall conveyors.
